Automate your job search with Claude + Firecrawl
Connect Firecrawl to Claude once, then turn a week of job hunting into a single prompt.
Claude’s built-in web search is fine for a quick look, but on real job hunting it gives up fast: it skims a page or two, and a lot of career sites block it outright. Firecrawl fixes that. It runs real browsers in the cloud and reads full pages properly, and half the AI industry uses it for exactly this. Connect it to Claude once and your job search becomes one prompt.
One-time setup (about a minute):
- Make a free account at firecrawl.dev. The free plan gives you around 1,000 pages a month, no card required.
- Copy your API key, and grab Firecrawl’s remote MCP server URL from docs.firecrawl.dev/mcp-server.
- In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste Firecrawl’s MCP server URL with your key. That’s it, you’re connected.
Then the prompt does the work:
Find me [ROLE] jobs in [CITY], [X] years of experience, posted this week.
Use Firecrawl to open each company's careers page and read it in full.
Put everything in one table: role, company, experience required, location,
and the direct apply link.
Then I'll paste my resume — keep only the roles that genuinely fit it, and
tell me the single skill most of these listings ask for that my resume
doesn't show yet.
Claude goes off on its own, finds the openings, opens each posting, and comes back with one clean table you can export to Excel: role, company, experience, apply link. Attach your resume and it filters to the ones that actually fit, and it’ll even flag the one skill nearly every listing wants that you’re missing, which tells you exactly what to learn next.
It’s not just for jobs. Point the same setup at a product to compare its price across every store, at a topic to pull the best articles into one doc, or at company sites to gather contacts if cold outreach is your thing.
Two honest notes. The free tier has limits (roughly 1,000 pages a month and a couple of requests at a time), so it’s built for your own job hunt, not mass scraping, and confirm the current free allowance on their pricing page before you plan around it. And always read what Claude pulls back before you act on it, an automated table is a starting point, not gospel. Used this way, while everyone else opens fifty tabs, your shortlist is already sitting in one sheet.
