The free Harvard-founded leadership program for students (Aspire)
What the Aspire Leaders Program gives you, who's eligible, and how to apply before the deadline.
Harvard faculty built a world-class leadership program for students, it’s completely free, and most people in Pakistan have never heard of it. It’s the Aspire Leaders Program, run by the Aspire Institute (founded out of Harvard). If you qualify, you should apply, the only cost is 10 minutes and a deadline.
What you actually get. It’s a six-week online, cohort-based program covering the things university never teaches: how to write your resume and apply for jobs, how to navigate and position yourself in your career, a module on AI and science, how to network effectively, and, importantly, how to find funded grants for further education. Every graduate gets a free certificate of completion, a real “studied with a Harvard-founded program” line for your profile.
Who’s eligible. You need to be 18–29 years old, currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university, and meet at least one of these: you’re first-generation to attend university in your family, or you come from a limited-income background. It’s either one, not both, the whole point of the program is to level the playing field.
How to apply. Go to aspireleaders.org, the application takes about 10 minutes, and if you meet the criteria you’re in.
The deadline. Cohort 4 of 2026 closes applications on October 16, 2026, with the program running October 21 to November 30. If you’re reading this after that date, don’t assume you missed it, Aspire runs new cohorts regularly, so check aspireleaders.org for the current cohort’s dates and apply to that one.
One honest note: it’s an online program, so you get out what you put in. Treat the modules and the network as something to actually use, not just a certificate to collect. Used properly, the networking and grants modules alone are worth the six weeks.
Free either way — an account just keeps your list.
