The LinkedIn habit that gets students mentors and referrals

Decide what you want to become, find people already there on LinkedIn, and message them asking for advice (not a job). ~9 out of 10 reply. Template: “Hi [name], I’m a student trying to get to where you are as a [role]. Could you share one piece of advice that made a difference for you? Two minutes of your time would mean a lot.” Over time this becomes mentors, referrals, and openings that never hit a job board.
