CM Punjab IT Internship: Rs 50,000/month, who's eligible, and how to apply
A real, government-paid internship for fresh IT grads in Punjab. Eligibility, the selection steps, and the apply link.
This one is real and it is worth your time. The Government of Punjab, through the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), runs the Chief Minister IT Internship Program, now branded “Work for Punjab,” which pays fresh IT graduates a monthly stipend and places them with an actual IT company for hands-on experience. If you qualify, apply, because paid, structured experience is exactly what a fresh CV is missing.
What you get:
- A monthly stipend of Rs 50,000 for the duration of the internship.
- A placement with a real IT company (software houses, banks, telecom operators and tech firms participate), so you get genuine industry experience, not a certificate for nothing.
- Roughly a 4 to 5 month program. (Note: the official program page and the live application portal currently list slightly different durations and seat counts, so treat the exact numbers as “confirm on the portal.”)
Who can apply (eligibility):
- Qualification: at least 16 years of education (a Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Multimedia, Telecom and Networking, or a closely related discipline.
- Graduation timeline: you must have graduated within the last 4 years.
- Employment status: you must currently be unemployed (not in a full-time or part-time job).
- Not enrolled elsewhere: you cannot be currently enrolled in another degree program.
- Domicile: you must hold a valid Punjab domicile and a valid CNIC. The portal is linked to NADRA, so applicants from other provinces are filtered out automatically.
- Gender: open to all genders.
The selection process (what to expect):
- Profile creation: register on the portal with your CNIC and academic details.
- Aptitude test: shortlisted candidates sit an IT/general aptitude assessment, so brush up on basic reasoning and core IT concepts.
- HEC verification: your degree is verified, so have your HEC-attested documents ready.
- Interview: conducted by the participating IT companies.
- Final selection and matching: you are onboarded with a local tech employer.
How to apply: Go to the official portal, cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk, create your profile, and complete the application. Apply from the official site only, never through a random link or an agent asking for money. This is a free government program: nobody should ever charge you to apply.
One thing to check yourself: applications are open as of mid-October 2026, but the exact closing date has been reported differently across sources (late October). Open the portal and confirm the current deadline before you start, and do not leave it to the last day, because the aptitude test and verification take time. Apply early.
Comment the keyword and I will DM you the eligibility summary, the steps, and the apply link.
